Search Pattern: crip time disability
"Crip time" is a concept within disability culture and theory that refers to a flexible approach to time that accommodates the needs of disabled bodies and minds.
Definition
As defined by Ellen Samuels, crip time is "time travel as a disability experience." It means acknowledging that:
- Tasks might take longer.
- Energy is finite (see: Spoon Theory).
- The standard "9-to-5" or linear productivity expectation is often inaccessible.
Why It Matters for Cripptic
Cripptic is built on crip time. We design our interfaces to be patient. No session timeouts on forms, clear progress indicators, and an understanding that "efficiency" isn't our only metric.
"Crip time is flex time not just of the body but of the mind and spirit." — Alison Kafer
